Challenge

The Human Resources team for Learning and Development in the Tire manufacturing company had tough time, in finding effective and faster ways to ramp up the Blue-collar employees in local languages where the plants were functioning, especially because of the wide gap between language structuring of North Indian and South Indian languages. For any new language learning, there are some basic concepts and flow to be followed, as per generic language learning principles. Such a solution was required to be conceptualized and implemented.


Solution

Team Sumskar interacted with the learning and development team of the company and referred to standard training solutions for the same purpose, as available in the market. After this problem analysis and market study, we came up with a solution workflow, for both the learner and the reviewer (who measures learning progress). This was implemented on top of a user-friendly experience / interface design for both Mobile and Web applications.


Results

We could achieve faster primary level language acquisition among the blue-collar employees of the customer. There were ample repeat learning mechanisms available in the apps to learn how to speak, how to recognize the writing, how to write and how to utilize it in sentences. Learning templates were cloud/app configurable for the admin users and could easily add more data samples through simple excel/csv type configuration file edits. Automations for self-evaluations and gamified involvements helped the knowledge acquisition faster and interesting for the employees.
